The “Hoarders”-Themed Fashion Editorial Everyone Has Been Waiting For

Post photo shoot, model and hoarder Verunca refused the mental health counseling offered by Dr. Robyn Zasio, and was highly combative when her fellow models pleaded with her to at least accept the help of a professional organizer. She used the profits from the episode to purchase more newspapers, a pair of Prada shoes, and a Balenciaga tote. Met Gala 2013 Red Carpet: Punk Chaos to Couture

Whereas last year, metallic ensembles owned the red carpet, each giving a nod to Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada. This year, studding, black leather and one mohawk headpiece  played off the theme “Punk: Chaos to Couture.” Check out some of the fashions from last night’s red carpet below. Of note, apparently Kim Kardashian decided punk meant showing up as your grandmother’s sofa.

Did you know Jourdan Dunn has an internet cooking show? Well, she does, and she recently premiered the second season of “Well Dunn” with Jourdan Dunn. I know, surprising right, there was a first season too that we didn’t know about. To kick off the new season, she invited fellow British model Cara Delevigne over to help her cook in the new episode. All we have to say…amazing. But check it out for yourself. Oh, we forgot to mention there is twerking, accents, and a purple dinosaur onesie involved…done, done, done, we are officially obsessed. Nigella Lawson better watch out.

Victoria’s Secret Gives A New Angel Her Wings

Image

It should come as no shock that Karlie Kloss has officially joined the ranks of Victoria’s Secret angels like Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, and Giselle Bundchen.

One of the hottest models on the scene right now, Kloss has been an “it” girl in the modeling world since before she was 18. Having walked the runway for almost every major fashion label from Marc Jacobs to Chanel and already being declared by Vogue Paris one of the top 30 models of the 2000s, can now add being one of Victoria’s Secrets heavenly babes to her growing list of accomplishments. As an Angel, Kloss joins only about a dozen other women, even though the brand features 40 or more models on the runway during their annual televised runway show.

Kloss celebrated the big announcement yesterday with a live twitter Q & A, joined by fellow veteran Angels Candice Swanepoel and Alessandra Ambrosio, using the hashtag #AskAnAngel. During the Q & A, she dished on watching football and her love of chai tea…oh, and her massive girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence (seriously, I dare you to find someone who doesn’t love her). Kloss also revealed that a sense of humor is a must for anyone she is dating. The 5’11” model has been rumored to be dating Joshua Kushner, a tech investor.

Being an angel, however, is going to mean a lot more than just donning a pair of wings and sashaying down the runway once a year in elaborate lingerie. As part of her new role, Kloss will act as an ambassador for Victoria’s Secret, appearing in commercials and ads alongside seasoned Angels like Miranda Kerr and Chanel Iman, as well as at public appearances. Her extensive experience and established career in the fashion world is most certainly a departure from the typical Angel Victoria’s Secret normally recruits, favoring lesser-known models that can be molded into global sensations.

Image

As one of the hottest models out there, she will undoubtedly bring in a slew of great press for Victoria’s Secret and a level of refinement that the brand is currently not known for. Congratulations are due, because as one of the hardest working models in the game Kloss’ wings are more than well deserved.

Michelle Obama Stuns On Second Vogue Cover

Image

The bangs make their first appearance on the cover of Vogue!

After weeks of waiting, Michelle Obama’s highly anticipated second Vogue cover has finally been released. For her second appearance on the cover of the fashion glossy, the first being her appearance in 2009, the First Lady exudes confidence and a sense of relaxation, and it is clear the she has comfortably settled into her role as a fashion and pop culture icon.

The cover image, shot by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz and styled by Vogue fashion director Tonne Goodman, has Michelle styled in a blue and purple Reed Krakoff sheath dress, reportedly yanked straight from her very own closet! Leibovitz’ cover is part of miniature pictorial that appears inside the magazine, where the first lady is pictured warmly embracing the president in the same Krakoff design.

Jonathan Van Meter writes the accompanying story, for which he interviewed both the first lady and the president. As reported by the Washington Post, Van Meter “began angling for the interview more than three years ago, “ and he finally had the chance this past January to sit down with the first couple for 40 minutes, “during which they discussed parenting, staying grounded, constituent impatience, political urgency and, of course, style.”

Look out for the April issue of Vogue, which will be hitting newsstands in the next couple weeks.

Anna Wintour Gets A New Job – And No, It Won’t Be In Politics

Image

Anna Wintour has a new job title – and, although there have been numerous whispers that President Obama may appoint the Vogue editor an ambassador, it looks like Anna’s foray into the political arena is going to remain on the back burner for now. As NY Mag reported earlier today, Condé Nast will be promoting Wintour to the new role of artistic director at the company, a position she can add to her already impressive titles as editor-in-chief of Vogue and editorial director of Teen Vogue. With this new position, Wintour really has us asking, how does she do it? And is she actually human?

The new position was created especially for Wintour, and in the role she will be assuming a variety of the responsibilities that were previously held by Condé’s chairman, Si Newhouse, who at 85 years old is taking a well-earned step back and scaling down his responsibilities. Part of Wintour’s new responsibilities will include providing consultation for a variety of different publications under the Condé Nast umbrella – allowing Wintour to provide her invaluable insight and opinions company-wide to any editor that may be in need.

The announcement of Wintour’s promotion comes on the heels of speculation that the long-time editor of Vogue was considering leaving the company or retiring from her post at Vogue. According to the New York Times, Condé Nast CEO Charles Townsend claims the company was willing to “go to great distances to avoid losing Anna, particularly in the prime of her career,” which only adds to the speculation that Wintour was seriously considering parting ways with the position that has established her as a fashion icon and global tastemaker. The promotion into Condé Nast’s executive ranks, while confirming that Wintour will not be leaving the company, has also secured her a spot as one of the most powerful women in magazine publishing, joining the likes of Martha Nelson, who was recently promoted to editor-in-chief of Time, Inc.
